Abstract
ABSTRAK Canadian smock merupakan teknik menghias permukaan kain yang menghasilkan motif berkerut, dalam dunia tekstil perkembangannya kini semakin jarang ditemukan karena pengerjaannya yang manual dan tidak dapat diproduksi secara masal sehingga karya smock menjadi langka, oleh sebab itu smock sebagai peluang bagi penulis untuk dikreasikan dengan sentuhan makrame ke dalam bentuk tas dengan inspirasi motif bambu yaitu Motif Ciawitali. Tujuannya untuk menginspirasi dan memperkenalkan kembali teknik smock kepada masyarakat serta memberikan sentuhan nilai tradisional pada karya. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan campuran dengan tiga pokok pikiran dalam membuat karya yaitu: eksplorasi (pengamatan, pencarian sumber ide, membuat konsep), perancangan (rancangan desain karya) dan perwujudan (pembuatan karya). Berdasarkan hasil kajian penelitian terdahulu penulis mendapat bahwa belum ada yang memadukan teknik smock dan makrame pada tas. Tas yang paling diminati saat ini berjenis tas jinjing. Penciptaan ini menghasilkan karya seni tekstil baru yang memiliki keunikan dan ciri khas dari tekstur yang dihasilkan pada empat model tas jinjing, untuk mewujudkan karya ini dengan memadukan teknik canadian smock dan makrame yang didominasi simpul ganda serta menerapkan Motif Ciawitali dengan tiga ragam pola. ABSTRACT Canadian smock is a technique to decorate the surface of a cloth that produces wrinkled motifs, in the world of textiles its development is now increasingly rare because the workmanship is manual and cannot be mass-produced so that smock are rare, therefore smock an opportunity for writers to be created with a touch of macrame to in the form of a bag inspired by a bamboo motif, namely the Ciawitali motif. The aim is to inspire and reintroduce the smock to the public as well as to give a touch of traditional value to works. The method used is a mixed approach with three main ideas in making works, namely: exploration (observation, finding sources of ideas, creating concepts), planning (designs of works) and embodiment (making works). Based on the results of previous research studies, the authors found that no one had yet combined the smock and macrame techniques on bags. The most popular bag today is the tote bag. This creation produces a new textile artwork which has a unique and distinctive characteristic from the texture produced in four tote bag models, to realize this work by combining canadian smock and macrame techniques which are dominated by double knots and applying the Ciawitali Motif with three different patterns.
