Abstract
El conocimiento emerge como una fuerza creciente que puede movilizar e impulsar el desarrollo social, por lo tanto, es necesario, partiendo de los aportes científicos acerca de las regularidades de este proceso y de los elementos que potencian al hombre como transformador de sus realidades, de sí mismo, de su cultura y su sociedad. Poder utilizar nuevos procesos como es el caso de la Gestión del Conocimiento, que posibiliten la formación de individuos, de profesionales, capaces de dar respuesta a las exigencias del mundo contemporáneo. Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, el presente trabajo propone un sistema automatizado denominado Gestión del Conocimiento en Universidades y Unidades de Investigación (GCUI) por sus siglas en español, para la evaluación de la gestión del conocimiento en instituciones universitarias y científicas. A tales efectos, se utilizaron 40 indicadores propuestos por Inche y Álvarez en 2007, distribuidos en las dimensiones capital humano, capital estructural y capital relacional. El sistema automatizado permite diagnosticar, controlar, medir y comparar el capital intelectual de forma rápida y precisa, el más importante en una organización.
