Abstract
A partire dalla tesi secondo la quale la pianificazione radicale, \nè una teoria della trasformazione sociale (Friedmann), \ne portatrice di profonde \nistanze di cambiamento nelle teorie e nelle \npratiche urbane e territoriali (Gonewardena), nel corso del periodo di ricerca tra Toronto e Vancouver ho avuto la possibilità di approfondire i temi con i maggiori studiosi del tema e di confrontarmi con loro nella elaborazione di questo tema. \nNel corso del periodo di studio è stata condotta anche una elaborazione empirica in quanto, da sempre, la principale critica \ne/o obiezione mossa alla pianificazione orientata \nalla trasformazione sociale (denominata più \nrecentemente, da un certo numero di autori, anche \ninsorgente o radicale) è quella di «essere \ninefficace su un piano pratico e attuativo», in \nquanto – ‘utopisticamente’ – non realizzabile.
