Abstract
El paciente crítico a pesar de sus limitaciones necesita afrontar y adaptarse a su nueva situación, permanecer en una unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI) genera un impacto, y el paciente tiene que utilizar ciertas estrategias que le ayuden a mejorar y afrontar su nueva esta situación, es por ello tanto el paciente con ayuda del personal de salud crearán y/o usaran ciertas estrategias de afrontamiento, es así que el objetivo de la investigación fue identificar las estrategias de adaptación y afrontamiento que utilizan los pacientes en la unidad de cuidados intensivos; se trata una investigación secundaria, la misma que utiliza la metodología de la investigación basada en evidencia (EBE), se tomó en cuenta 06 artículos científicos relacionados con el tema, los que fueron buscados en bases de datos reconocidas en comunidad científica, como: scielo, enfermería global, dialnet, google académico. Se seleccionó un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, multicéntrico, que se trató con la lista de chequeo de Astete, el nivel de evidencia se dio a través de la Canadian Task Force on Preventive Healt Care (CTFPHC). La respuesta a la pregunta clínica: ¿Qué estrategias utiliza el paciente crítico para el afrontamiento y adaptación en las Ucis? Refiere que el apoyo en la información y atención proporcionado por el personal sanitario al paciente crítico, así como el apoyo de la familia y amigos; además de pensar en positivo con respecto a su situación de salud; asimismo usan como estrategias el apoyo en creencias religiosas y el apoyo en la experiencia previa; otra estrategia no menos importante es, evitar pensar en su situación de salud.
