Abstract
Suomessa liikuntaseurat tavoittavat yli puolet lapsista ja nuorista, ja vain yksi kymmenestä ei ole ollut seuratoiminnassa ollenkaan. Lasten ja nuorten vähäinen liikkuminen näkyy myös seurojen toiminnassa muun muassa heikkona kestävyyskuntona tai heikkoina motorisina taitoina. Seurojen ei yksin tarvitse ratkaista liikkumisvajetta, mutta seuroilla on mahdollisuus kehittää omaa toimintaansa tukemaan liikkumisen lisäämistä ja monipuolistamista. Tämä tukee myös seurojen urheilullisia tavoitteita. Tunnistamme urheiluseurojen itsenäisen aseman osana vapaata kansalaistoimintaa sekä seurojen moninaisuuden niin lajien kuin paikallisolosuhteiden suhteen. Tässä julkaisussa esiteltävien suositusten tarkoituksena onkin herättää kriittistä pohdintaa nykyisestä seuratoiminnasta, sekä tarjota seuroille keinoja olla mukana liikkuvamman Suomen rakentamisessa. Liikunnallinen elämäntapa kestävän kasvun aikaansaajana (STYLE) tutkii kestävän kasvun edellytyksiä arkiliikunnan edistämisen keinoin. Hanke tukee liikenne- ja viestintäministeriön kävelyn ja pyöräilyn edistämisohjelman tavoitetta nostaa kävelyn ja pyöräilyn yhteistä kulkutapaosuutta 38 prosenttiin vuoteen 2030 mennessä.
