Abstract
Toledo, a finales del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX pasa por una etapa de elevado analfabetismo (el 70,2 % en 1900). Contrasta con esa situación el florecimiento de la prensa y de\n publicaciones de tipo cultural, así como la intensa actividad teatral. Esta gira en torno a los ciclos (primavera, otoño e invierno) del Teatro de Rojas, de propiedad municipal y centro neurálgico\n de la cultura en Toledo, y a las representaciones que se dan en teatros privados pertenecientes a Asociaciones culturales (Teatro Echegaray y Teatro Romea).
