Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Dabei geht es um Kompensationsgeschäfte, die Nutzung des Clearings als Zahlungsmittel und die Ausarbeitung von Geschäften mit den Achsenmächten als auch den Alliierten.\nThe thesis follows chronologically the career of Roche manager Antoine Cloëtta to the beginnings of Roche Canada in the late 1920s and then to Basel to represent the company's interests in the Swiss war economy during the Second World War. The first part focuses on the reasons for and challenges of founding a foreign subsidiary as well as the elaboration of marketing strategies for pharmaceutical specialities. It becomes apparent that there was a close exchange of marketing experiences between the general manager Emil Barell and Antoine Cloëtta, and that despite losses, considerable funds flowed into advertising. In the second part Cloëtta returns to Switzerland and takes over the negotiations for imports and exports of pharmaceuticals with the federal administrations of the war economy, which are marked by personal relationships. This involved compensation transactions, the use of clearing as a means of payment and the elaboration of deals with the Axis powers as well as the Allies.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
