Abstract
En la primera parte del trabajo se destaca la popularidad de la que gozó la leyenda genealógica sobre la familia de los Tellos de Meneses a través de la recopilación de noticias de representación de obras que se dedicaron a este tema. El artículo se centra después en la bilogía dramática que Lope escribió sobre los orígenes de esta familia: Los Tellos de Meneses y Valor, fortuna y lealtad (segunda parte de Los Tellos de Meneses). Se analizan dos aspectos fundamentalmente: por un lado, el tratamiento que el autor hizo de las fuentes, quizá en un afán por favorecer la imagen de la familia; por otro lado, se analiza el lugar que ocupan estas dos obras de exaltación genealógica en la configuración del ideal de labrador digno.
