Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The article « Michel Tremblay popular novelist » tries to make us know, feel and appreciate the novelistic writing of a quebecois writer currently considered as one of the best among the names that stood out in the francophone literary field, and mainly divulgated as dramaturge. Two novels are studied here: Le coeur découvert [The discovered hart] (1986) and Le coeur éclaté [The broken heart] (1989), which are two sides of the same story. The theme of the homoaffectivity is central, widely and explicitly treated over 700 pages. As a fictional francophone production, this is duly located in its original community, it means, Quebec, an insertion that can detonate a specific role assumed by the literary text. In this way, the homosexual thematic is sociologically approached. The goal here is offer an apt reading in order to put in evidence some remarked aspects of the novelist writing of Michel Tremblay, including features that could be referred to a popular aesthetic and a gay aesthetic.
