Pour remédier à la pénurie d’enseignants au Québec, les centres de services scolaires recrutent des enseignants immigrants formés à l’étranger (EIFÉ). Ces enseignants vont, certes, combler les besoins en main-d’œuvre, mais leur intégration ne saurait se faire sans heurts. Les résultats de recherche montrent que les EIFÉ font face à des défis relatifs à l’intégration à l’équipe-école, à la mise en œuvre des orientations du programme de formation et à la familiarisation avec leur nouvel environnement de travail (Niyubahwe, Mukamurera et Sirois, 2018). Toutefois, leur expérience varie d’une école à l’autre en fonction des réalités contextuelles et des caractéristiques personnelles des EIFÉ. Partant des récits d’expérience des EIFÉ au Québec et des souhaits qu’ils expriment, ce texte a pour objectif de présenter quelques défis d’intégration professionnelle des EIFÉ et de dégager des pistes d’actions à mettre en œuvre pour faciliter leur transition professionnelle et leur rétention dans la profession enseignante.
