Stress Field Modelling in the Alberta Basin
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The understanding of the recent stress field is a critical issue for the design of a geothermal production site. By that reason we updated the World Stress Map database for the region of the Alberta Basin and extended the data stock to more than 300 stress orientation values. The mean of the maximum horizontal stress SH orientation of 53.6° ± 32° is perpendicular to the regional trend of the Rocky Mountains and the slope of the basement below the sediments. A gradual variation mimics the front of the Alberta Fault-and-Thrust Belt to the basin. A 3D geomechanical model is constructed to derive the full stress tensor field of the Alberta Basin. The model is tested on thousands of magnitude data, which is unique. We show a new work-flow to derive initial stress conditions for local and reservoir models, needed for the engineering of a geothermal production site, based on regional stress field models. The advantage of this method is the development of a feasible reservoir stress field model, which takes nearly all stress sources into account, in a location where no or only a few in-situ stress measurements for tests are available.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
