Este estudo investigou a dinâmica do desmatamento na ecorregião Xingu-Tapajós, situada no "Arco do Desmatamento" da Amazônia, utilizando dados anuais de polígonos de desmatamento do projeto PRODES entre 2010 e 2024, além de técnicas de sensoriamento remoto para avaliar padrões de perda de cobertura florestal. Os resultados apontaram picos de desmatamento nos primeiros anos da década de 2010, seguidos por uma redução entre 2015 e 2018, com um aumento expressivo a partir de 2019, atingindo valores superiores a 2.500 km² em 2021. A análise indicou uma transição de áreas de desmatamento fragmentadas para grandes áreas contínuas. Observou-se que políticas de monitoramento são fundamentais, mas necessitam de reforço e incentivos a práticas sustentáveis. Conclui-se que a conservação da biodiversidade e o desenvolvimento sustentável na região exigem uma abordagem integrada e coordenada para lidar com os desafios ambientais da ecorregião Xingu-Tapajós.
