Abstract
The objective of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between automotive sector exports and Mexico's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). To achieve this objective, a cointegration model was used. The variables analyzed were Mexico's Gross Domestic Product and automotive sector exports from the first quarter of 2018 to the fourth quarter of 2024. To facilitate the analysis, the variables were converted to constant pesos. Nominal Gross Domestic Product was avoided because the objective was to determine the impact on the variables without biasing inflation. Similarly, automotive sector exports in Mexico were deflated using the Mexican Consumer Price Index (CPI). Both data are based on 2018 prices. The results obtained during the research indicate a long-term relationship between automotive exports and Mexico's Gross Domestic Product, which supports the hypothesis that a country's economic growth is driven by its exports. It is therefore concluded that Mexican automotive sector exports have a significant impact on economic growth.
