Abstract
Malting Barley ( Hordeum vulgare ) is one of the most important cereal crops worldwide, serving as the foundational raw material for beer brewing and possessing a long history and broad cultural influence. With the progress of globalization and the impact of climate change, studying the evolutionary trajectory and cultural diffusion of Malting Barley holds great significance. This study traces the history of Malting Barley from its domestication in the Fertile Crescent to its global cultivation, focusing on how its botanical traits have influenced its adaptability and global spread. By examining the role of Malting Barley in brewing culture, the study reveals its importance in global agriculture and explores its adaptability to climate change and future development strategies. The findings indicate that the drought tolerance and highly adaptable botanical characteristics of Malting Barley have supported its global dissemination. Its central role in brewing culture has facilitated the selection and adaptation of different varieties in various regions. In the face of climate change, modern breeding techniques and sustainable agricultural practices provide effective means to enhance the yield and resilience of Malting Barley.
