Abstract
A Kijevi Rusz és a Magyar Királyság kapcsolatai a távoli múltra tekintenek vissza. A Régmúlt idők krónikája (újabb fordításban a Régmúlt idők elbeszélése), a Rusz legjelentősebb középkori forrása, számos említést őriz a magyarokról. A kapcsolatok a magyar és a keleti szláv állam között az idő múlásával egyre szorosabbakká váltak, amelyek elsősorban a dinasztikus házasságokban tükröződtek vissza. A 11. században ezek közül a legjelentősebb I. András magyar király és Anasztázia, Bölcs Jaroszlav leányának a házassága volt. Imre herceg halála után bekövetkezett események miatt Vazul fiai, András, Béla és Levente külföldre kényszerültek. Béla egy időre Lengyelországban talált otthonra. Ott feleségül kapta az uralkodó, II. Mieszko leányát, akitől fiai, Géza és László születtek. András és Levente tovább folytatták útjukat, és a Ruszban, Bölcs Jaroszlav udvarában tartózkodtak egy ideig. Ismeretes, hogy András feleségül vette Anasztáziát, a fejedelem leányát, az viszont már kérdéses, mikor kötötték meg a házasságot. A házasságkötés időpontja abból a szempontból meghatározó, milyen társadalmi pozícióban volt András a nász idején: száműzött herceg, a trón várományosa vagy magyar király.
