El Cañón Sloggett (Sverdrup) se encuentra sobre el talud continental, en el flanco sur de la Dorsal Norte de Scotia, a 10 km de península Mitre en la provincia de Tierra del Fuego. El cañón se halla sobre un margen continental pasivo-cizallado, en una región afectada por dos estructuras geológicas principales, las cuales corresponden al Sistema de Fallas Canal Beagle con dirección este-oeste y a los lineamientos noroeste-sureste (Lineamiento Sloggett). En este trabajo se presentan los resultados preliminares del cañón, a fin de realizar un estudio geomorfológico, y determinar su control estructural. Se utilizaron datos adquiridos durante la campaña YTEC-GTGM 0 realizada en el 2017 a bordo del buque oceanográfico Austral que consisten en a) batimetría con una sonda multihaz Kongsberg EM122 y monohaz con una sonda Kongsberg EA600 b) perfiles sísmicos de subfondo con la sonda Parasound P70 c) testigos de sedimento mediante el método de gravity core. El cañón tiene un área de aproximadamente 994 km2 y posee una longitud a lo largo de todo el eje de 101 km. En ambos flancos se visualizan canales tributarios donde se observa un mayor desarrollo en el flanco este. A la vez el eje del cañón posee abruptos cambios de dirección variando de N 125° a N 35°en dos ocasiones, coincidiendo con el Lineamiento Sloggett perteneciente a la ya extinta Dorsal Oeste de Scotia¸ lo que permite determinar un control tectónico en su desarrollo.
