Abstract
[EN] The present paper examines one of the most remarkable surviving examples of eleventh century wall painting in al-Andalus: the Andalusí socle discovered in the San Julián quarter of Seville. This structure, belonging to a now-lost Abbadid almunia, features a distinctive ornamentation that reflects the evolution of the artistic language of the period. Its proper contextualisation has enabled a more detailed understanding of the development of wall painting produced by Andalusí workshops between the tenth and twelfth centuries, while also revealing the creative capacity of local artists.
