Abstract
L’épinette de Norvège est une espèce à considérer pour diversifier les plantations au Québec. Depuis la fin des années 1950, nous effectuons des sélections d’épinettes de Norvège afin de tester l’adaptation et le rendement de l’espèce dans différentes conditions climatiques. Dès son introduction, elle a dû faire face à son principal ravageur sur le territoire québécois : le charançon du pin blanc. Puisque certains arbres étaient résistants à l’insecte, nous avons inclus cette caractéristique dans les critères de sélection. En prenant en compte de nombreux paramètres, nous venons de terminer la sélection d’individus qui présentent des gains intéressants en ce qui a trait à la productivité et à la résistance au charançon2. Ces arbres génétiquement améliorés composeront la deuxième génération d’épinettes de Norvège au Québec.
