Abstract
Условия для расцвета уральской промышленности в XVIII в. были подготовлены предшествующим столетием промышленного освоения края. Намеченное указом Петра I строительство на Урале «большого» завода по изготовлению чугуна, железа, пушек и создание оружейного производства в итоге было осуществлено. Военное производство, изначально планировавшееся «для обороны Сибирского царства», с началом Северной войны было полностью переориентировано на поставки продукции в Центральную Россию. Уральские пушки и тобольские ружья не сыграли существенной роли в Северной войне. Однако Тобольский оружейный завод вместе с первыми уральскими железоделательными заводами положил начало формированию облика Урала, как одного из крупнейших металлургических и военно-промышленных центров страны. Наиболее весомый вклад Урала в победу заключался в поставках высококачественного железа.
