Recorded by: Brent Taylor, VY2HF. Grid square of location recorded: FN86 Maximum obscuration of the sun was 99.5% at 1938UT on 8 April 2024. These data files are recordings of the entire medium wave broadcast band (535-1705kHz), made during the total solar eclipse of 8 April 2024, from 1825 to 2048UT from Stratford, PEI, Canada. They are part of a set of such recordings made on 8 April 2024 from 1659 to 2207UT. The recordings not included here are available by contacting HamSCI at am-eclipse@hamsci.org, if you require this data. Data Quality: Only limitations are a few spurious carriers, a couple of short data dropouts (<20 sec), and ~20 minute long bands of broadband local electrical noise, particularly below 900kHz. Data files are .wav format, but the archived files are .zip, with about five .wav files packaged together in each .zip file, using the prefix “VY2HF-Stratford-wideband_500_1750kHz_". Antenna: ALA1530 loop, orientation 60-240 degrees . Receiver: RSPdx, not locked to a frequency standard, with center frequency of 1125kHz recording a 1250kHz wide passband, using SDR Uno software. Recording computer time was set by BKT Time Sync and tied to a GPS reference.
