Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This thesis explores the concept of the flexible classroom. The flexible classroom originated in North America and Canada, and is now developing in Europe. We explored the literature on the subject, before realizing that there is no consensual definition of the flexible classroom. It is therefore difficult to report on its implementation in schools. So we interviewed teachers to find out their own definition of the flexible classroom and whether they felt it was beneficial to student learning. Next, we administered a test to pupils in a first-grade class to assess their cognitive flexibility. At the same time, we asked their teacher to estimate the flexibility of each of her pupils. The aim of this experiment was to see whether teachers were able to estimate their pupils' flexibility accurately, so that they could take it into account in their teaching.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
