Abstract
LU Riksskogstaxeringen (RT) har sedan starten 1923 inte bara inventerat träd och buskar utan även fält- och bottenskiktsvegetation. Metodiken har ändrats över tid och kommit att bli mer omfattande i takt med att intresse och behov från olika avnämare ökat och för närvarande är antalet inventerade arter och artgrupper tämligen omfattande. Under senare år har även ett antal arter av vedtickor och hänglavar tillkommit och dessutom utförs en inventering av så kallade rikkärrsarter. Intresset från samhället kring skogens olika nyttor, så kallade ekosystemtjänster, vilket också understöds av FN:s konferens om biologisk mångfald 2022 då den så kallade Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework överenskommelsen signerades. För att möjliggöra kvantifierbara mål och uppföljning av hur det går för den biologiska mångfalden behövs artinformation. Intresset kring utvecklingen av skogens biologiska mångfald, klimatförändringarna, tillgången på vinterbete för ren och andra ekosystemtjänster, utöver virkesproduktion, ökar och därmed också efterfrågan på såväl kvantitativa som kvalitativa data. Det behövs underlag både för att möjliggöra forskning kring och planering utifrån arternas förutsättningar. RT är tillsammans med SLU Artdatabanken redan idag en effektiv medaktör i den myndighetssamverkan som behövs för att på ett objektivt och kostnadseffektivt sätt tillgodose samhället med information på artnivå. Syftet med detta temanummer är att redovisa vad RTs inventeringar kan bidra med samt ge exempel på några analyser av insamlat data.
