Abstract
The article presents the findings of the research that deals with theological literature reading practices at the home library of the Muravyov family: Mikhail Nikitich Muravyov (1757–1807), a poet, one of the tutors of the Grand Dukes Alexander and Konstantin, the first trustee of Moscow University, and his son, the Decembrist Nikita Muravyov (1795–1843). The author attempts to trace back and distinguish reading patterns of “fathers and sons” and analyze the difference in the attitude to this literature that were characteristic to such extraordinary people: a nobleman of the time of Catherine the Great and a young officer that belonged to the generation of the first quarter of the 19th century.
