Abstract
IE TCD MS 9385/1287: Letter from Joseph Soames, Soames Edwards, 58 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, England to Matthew Evanson O'Brien dated 14th November 1892 returning a letter from McCue and informing O'Brien that "It might be worth while to make use of [McCue] to find out whether or not F.B. can be approached." McCue= possibly E.J. McCue, who Michael Davitt referred to as "an accomplice of Sinclair's, playing the part of a patriot" in a note added to the letter at IE TCD MS 9385/1259. Dublin-born Matthew Evanson O'Brien (1842-1911) was a lawyer; he died and was buried in Wetaskiwin Cemetery, Wetaskiwin, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Joseph Soames was the solicitor for the Times newspaper for the Parnell Special Commission proceedings.
