This paper focuses on the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, the home community of the lead author, and the lessons learned from conducting collaborative and community-led participatory research with the community. Following the lead author's doctoral research project, the Yetwánaý Project, we introduce a framework for integrating culturally grounded botanical approaches into the development of Indigenized strategies for decolonial ethnobotanical research with Indigenous community partners. The Wáts'iyus Harvest Basket Model presented here centers Indigenous voices, perspectives, and worldviews. This model adopts a botanical metaphorical approach, informing how ethnobotanical research can support Indigenous communities in reconnecting to culturally grounded, land- and plant-based health and wellness practices.
