IE TCD MS 9384/1225: Letter from Henry Du Pre ́Labouchère, Pope's Villa, Twickenham, London to Matthew Evanson O'Brien dated 23rd May, year not identified, referencing James ('Red Jim') McDermott. McDermott was an agent provocateur, journalist, and I.R.B. and Fenian Brotherhood member; he also worked for the British secret service; his nickname 'Red Jim' was bestowed on him by the Irish community in New York "on account of his amoral behaviour."
