Abstract
Cet article explore l’héritage obsédant de la traite transatlantique des esclaves tel qu’incarné dans les œuvres littéraires de l’auteure haïtiano-canadienne Marie-Célie Agnant. En se concentrant sur la métaphore des « corps dans l’eau », l’étude examine comment Agnant invoque la mémoire collective, le traumatisme et la douleur ancestrale à travers des récits fluides et fragmentés. Son travail se réapproprie des histoires passées sous silence en mettant l’accent sur les voix féminines noires et les identités diasporiques, transformant l’océan à la fois en tombe et en espace de résistance. En s’engageant dans les études sur la mémoire et la théorie postcoloniale, cette analyse met en évidence comment l’écriture d’Agnant préserve les histoires submergées et donne une voix aux fantômes de l’esclavage.
