Pertumbuhan kegiatan perdagangan dan jasa di Kota Pekanbaru terus meningkat seiring dengan pertumbuhan penduduk. Lokasi keberadaan minimarket dan toko kelontong ycenderung berdekatan. Hal ini menimbulkan persaingan antar minimarket dan toko kelontong, yang dapat memepengaruhi keberlangsungan toko kelontong di Jl.HR.Soebrantas Kota Pekanbaru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi persebaran lokasi minimarket dan toko kelontong di Jl.HR.Soebrantas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, untuk menganalisis keberadaan minimarket dan toko kelontong, teknik analisis komparatif membandingkan data sekunder dengan hasil observasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan minimarket di Jl.HR.Soebrantas ditandai dengan menjamurnya minimarket berjenis Indomaret dan Alfamart. Pertumbuhan yang terjadi mengakibatkan kesesuaian lokasi minimarket rendah karena berdekatan dengan perdagangan lain terutama toko kelontong disekitarnya.
