O foco desse artigo é a análise de objetos cotidianos como signos nos filmes. Objetos da vida cotidiana adquirem variadas funções nos filmes: eles podem ser simplesmente usados como objeto de cena mas também podem dar suporte a um estilo particular de filme. Outros objetos são especialmente escolhidos para traduzir o interior de personagens ou o compromisso ético-estético do diretor com a narrativa conceitual. Para entender essas funções e compromissos, desenvolvi uma metodologia de análise fílmica focada nos objetos. Essa pesquisa foi realizada na Concordia University, em Montreal no Canadá com o financiamento do Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Canadá (DFAIT).
