Abstract
Este trabalho consiste em uma revisão sistemática que investiga a importância da triagem universal para infecção congênita por citomegalovírus (cCMV) em recém-nascidos, com ênfase na identificação de casos assintomáticos ao nascimento e na detecção de perda auditiva tardia durante os primeiros anos de vida. O estudo abrange publicações até janeiro de 2025, avaliadas segundo as diretrizes PRISMA e a escala de Newcastle-Ottawa para análise de qualidade. Foram incluídos três estudos prospectivos envolvendo 56.892 recém-nascidos triados por PCR de urina, com prevalência de infecção de 0,4%, sendo 79% dos casos assintomáticos. A prevalência de perda auditiva tardia nos casos assintomáticos foi de aproximadamente 22%, reforçando o risco elevado de sequelas progressivas mesmo na ausência de sinais clínicos ao nascimento. A pesquisa demonstra que a triagem universal permite monitoramento auditivo e neurológico precoce, favorecendo intervenções oportunas e a redução de custos com investigações tardias, destacando seu potencial impacto em políticas de saúde pública neonatal.
