Abstract
The tension between nationalism and globalisation emerges as a critical challenge within contemporary political and social theory. While nationalism prioritises sovereignty, cultural identity, and self-governance, globalisation fosters interconnectedness, transnational norms, and supranational authority. This paper investigates the theoretical and practical complexities of harmonising these opposing forces, exploring how nation-states manage global pressures while preserving sovereignty. Leveraging case studies from international law, trade, and human rights, this research contends that hybrid governance frameworks, selective integration, and cosmopolitan nationalism present viable strategies to align domestic autonomy with global accountability.
