Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to produce empirical evidence for the popular wisdom of develeoped countries produce high-tech due to the importance given to R&D activities and intellectual property rights. In this context, effects of payments for IPRs and R&D expenditure on high-tech export were analyzed empirically in the developed country group, which is described as the G-7 (USA, Japan, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada). As a result of panel data analysis in the period of 1996-2014, there was a positive correlation between IPR payments, R&D expenditure and economic complexity index with high technology export. This study differs from similar ones because of adding economic complexity index as the capacity to use technical information into the model
