Abstract
W niniejszym artykule będę starała się pokazać bardzo istotną kwestię w filozofii Alberta Camusa związaną z sytuacją absurdalną i wyrosłej na niej etyce, którą moim zdaniem można nazwać etyką ateizmu. Absurd, a więc odkrycie, że nie ma transcendencji, sensów narzucanych z góry człowiekowi i niezmiennych znaczeń nie oznacza destrukcji, czy nihilizmu. Wprawdzie człowiek absurdalny często przedstawiony jest przez Camus jako osoba bierna, czy dystansująca się od jakiegokolwiek działania, nie oznacza to jednak dla Camusa degradacji, czy rozpaczy tej kondycji. Wedle francuskiego egzystencjalisty fakt, że odkrywa się umowność norm i zasad, kulturowe ich warunkowanie, jak również brak istnienia kategorii i wartości transcendentnych i niezmiennych ma moc wyzwalania człowieka. W filozofii Camusa, co podkreślał dobitnie słowami wielu swoich bohaterów literackich, dominuje bowiem wiara w człowieka, w ludzkie możliwości i siłę. Poprzez bunt, a więc pozytywne przepracowanie absurdu, Camus pokazuje, jak człowiek sam z siebie potrafi znaleźć siłę i możliwość działania. Ateizm w wersji Camus wyzwala człowieka do tego, by odkryć swoje możliwości, by w pełni stać się sobą, poza narzucanymi mu zasadami i kulturowymi wzorami.
