Cette étude rend compte de l'évolution des relStions dans le Baoulé Sud depuis les premiers contacts avec les Français. De 1891 à 1899, les réactions à la progression des. Français dans le Baoulé Sud sont limitées Mais à partir de 1899, l'état de conflit entre les colonisateurs et les colonisés s'aggrave. Des résistances armées, le Baoulé Sud passe à une résistance plus silencieuse qui consiste en un boycott des exigences de l'administration coloniale. La fin du mouvement des "ignames noires" marque la soumission du Baoulé Sud. Dès 1920, les popul^ions acceptent le fait colonial et profilent de la paix coloniale pour s'approprier la situation coloniale et contribuer à la modernisation du Baoulé Sud
