A Regulationist/Marxist Model of Macro-Instability

Abstract
Our aim is to build and test an heterodox model which is a synthesis of two schools of thought: the political economy of Marxism based on the Dumenil-Levy approach and the political economy of regulation based on the Aglietta-Boyer-Billaudot approach. A new heterodox model is presented according to two specifications: a productivity-demand model of two equations and a real and financial model for an open economy based on four behavioral equations and two quasi-definition relations for the closure of the system. The main conclusion is that the Canadian quarterly series over the last 50 years support better the Marxist school in general. However, the Regulationist school also receives a validation in the case of a fully adjusted interest rate to the equilibrium profit rate.
