Generation Inc. (OPG) and TransCanada Energy Ltd. (TCE). The partnership was formed to plan, develop and operate the proposed PEC at the Toronto Portlands on a portion of the former R. L. Hearn Generating Station property (G.S.) at 440 Unwin Avenue. The former R.L. Hearn G.S. ceased operation in 1982 and the building, including the stack and some of the property adjacent to the building is currently leased to a movie studio. The proposed PEC will be a natural gas fired power plant capable of generating electricity and steam for district heating. The plant will be constructed as two independent, identical, combined cycle, power plant trains. Both trains will be monitored and controlled from a central control room, and will be designed to meet all applicable municipal, provincial, national and other applicable industry-based codes and standards. The PEC project is subject to an environmental screening as defined under the Ontario Ministry
