Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The in vitro activity of colistin was evaluated versus 3,480 isolates of gram-negative bacilli using CLSI broth microdilution methods. The MIC90 of colistin was <2 g/ml against a variety of clinically important gram-negative bacilli, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Acinetobacter baumannii, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. All multidrug-resistant (n 76) P. aeruginosa isolates were susceptible to colistin (MIC, <2 g/ml). These data support a role for colistin in the treatment of infections caused by multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa. Colistin (polymyxin E) is a polypeptide antimicrobial orig-inally discovered in 1949 that targets the bacterial cell mem-brane (4). The use of colistin was largely abandoned by the early 1980s due to toxicity concerns (nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity) (4, 9). However, there has recently been re-newed interest in using polymyxins, including colistin, for the treatment of infections caused by gram-negative bacilli (especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter bau-mannii) due to their activity versus multidrug-resistant

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
