Abstract
Alternative Land Use Services (ALUS) is an innovative rural and agricultural policy concept, arising in the grassroots farm and conservation community across Canada. ALUS presents an incentive-based approach to the conservation and protection of key environmental assets on privately-owned agricultural landscapes across Canada. Key environmental benefits of ALUS include clean water, improved flood control, fish and wildlife habitat, endangered species conservation, and carbon sequestration among others.
