Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Phenotypic and genotypic methods were used to characterize extended-spectrum--lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli isolated in 2007 from 11 different Canadian medical centers. Of the 209 ESBL-producing E. coli isolates tested, 148 (71%) produced CTX-M-15, 17 (8%) produced CTX-M-14, 5 (2%) pro-duced CTX-M-3, and 1 produced CTX-M-27. Overall, 96 (46%) of the ESBL producers belonged to clonal complex ST131, with the highest prevalence in Brampton, Calgary, and Winnipeg. ST131 is an important cause of community onset urinary tract infections due to ESBL-producing E. coli across Canada. Since 2000, Escherichia coli producing CTX-M enzymes has emerged worldwide as an important cause of community onset urinary tract infections (UTIs), and this has been called “the CTX-M pandemic ” (3). This phenomenon accelerated rapidly, especially during the past 5 years, and today organisms pro-ducing these enzymes are the most common type of extended-spectrum -lactamase (ESBL) producers found in most areas of the world (24). Although several members of the family Enterobacteriaceae that produce CTX-M -lactamases have

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
