that 'a bibliography on this scale will contain errors both of omission and commission. ' The discovery of such 'errors ' does not in any way under-mine the importance of a bibliography of this kind. Recording the publish-ing activity of one of the foremost Canadian publishers of the twentieth century is a formidable task. In the case of the Macmillan Company of Canada, many books attributed to this firm often turned out, on examina-tion, to be merely distributed by the company and not published by it. Other books which the company apparently issued still cannot be located in any library or in private hands. The compilation of the bibliography was undertaken in the Division of Archives and Research Collections at McMaster University Library which houses the Macmillan library. Since the publication of the bibliography McMaster University Library has continued to add to its collection of Mac-millan imprints.
