Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Companies today are increasingly spreading out their activities globally, focusing on what they do well and seeking global talent or parts in areas that other regions do better. Yet traditional measures and analyses of trade do not adequately take these trends into account. This study from the Conference Board’s International Trade and Investment Centre takes a fresh approach to capture some of these trends. The study examines Canada’s trade with key regions from a supply-chain perspective, which is more aligned with the realities of global and regional production. The result is a timely assessment of the stage Canadian goods are at when they are used in other regions ’ supply chains, as well as at what stage Canada uses other regions ’ goods in its production. The data and conclusions can help Canadian public and pri-vate leaders understand the implications of how global and regional production takes place today.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
