Having completed a Masters in Economics and a Ph.D. in Geography, she is an economic geographer, focusing her research on the spatial aspects of economics, such as location, spatial interaction, and diffusion. She tackles economic problems with the tools of GIS (geographic information systems) and spatial statistics. Her interests include tourism, marine traffic, and a body of research in medical geography, specifically on the analysis of the socio-economic determinants of health and accessibility to heath care facilities in Canada.
