Abstract
Organizational Analysis from the University of Toronto, and Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Alberta. His primary area of research is the study of strategic organizational change. He has conducted extensive research on change involving amateur sports organizations, fire and emergency medical services organizations, and health care organizations. He is currently involved in a major research project examining the exploration of alternative organizational models for the delivery of health care and health related services. Bernie also has an active consulting practice relating to emergency services management. Prior to joining the University of Lethbridge, he was a professional firefighter for 18 years, including five years as a chief officer. As a consultant, Bernie has developed and delivered many training programs, and has assisted several emergency services organizations with performance reviews and the development of strategic plans. Bernie is an adjunct faculty member at the United States National Fire Academy, where he teaches courses in the Executive Development Program. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University where he teaches advanced strategic management in an on-line format.
