Abstract
The budget process is about pinching pennies. Doing more for voters with less. The budg-et approval period is nearing its end, and your 198th DA’s Office is again looking to max-imize services to the citizens we serve while keeping costs to the taxpayer as low as pos-sible. During the last budg-et cycle, I was asked by the Commissioners to make cuts in the District Attorney’s Office, and I did. We lost a full-time prosecutor, a part-time pros-ecutor, and an investigator. This past year we sought additional ways to be good stewards of public funds--finding ways to do more with less, and I’m proud to say we have. For every dollar Kimble County gave the 198th DA’s Office, we gave back over six dollars to Kimble County including the contribution of more than $300,000 in fines and asset forfeitures to the County. I feel confident that there are few other agencies in the entire State that can say the same. Going further. I have found a way to fund portions of the DA’s office without tapping Jon Budd, 25, of Bristol, England, started on his bicycle in Vancouver, Canada, August 12, and traveled down Hwy. 101 where he ended his North/ South trip on September 9, in Tijuana, Mexico.
