Abstract
Generation Inc. (OPG) and TransCanada Energy Ltd. (TCE). The partnership was formed to plan, develop and operate the proposed PEC at the Toronto Portlands on a portion of the former R. L. Hearn Generation Station (G.S.) property at 440 Unwin Avenue. The former R.L. Hearn G.S. ceased operation in 1982 and the building, including the stack and some of the property adjacent to the building is currently leased to a movie studio. The proposed PEC will be a natural gas fired power plant that will be capable of nominally generating 550 MW of electricity. Each Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) is capable of producing a total of 257,000 kg/hr of steam without duct firing and 390,000 kg/hr with duct firing. The plant will be constructed as two independent identical combined cycle, cogeneration power plant trains. Both trains will be monitored and controlled from a central control room, and will be designed to meet all applicable municipal, provincial, national and other applicable industry-based codes and standards.
