Abstract
This study provides a thorough assessment of Canada‘s bilateral air services agreements (ASAs) by focusing on the following four issues: 1. Assessing and summarizing Canada‘s existing bilateral ASAs, especially those with British Columbia‘s key trading partners, 2. Assessing the effects of liberalizing Canada‘s restrictive bilateral ASAs including the costs and benefits of liberalizing air transport markets to/from British Columbia‘s key trading partners, 3. Identifying and describing the key issues in Canada‘s bilateral ASA negotiation process in comparison with that in the United States; and 4. Presenting options for and recommendations on potential strategies for British Columbia to influence Ottawa‘s bilateral ASA process.
