Abstract
The productivity economic accounts require measures of the growth rate of the productive services that the capital stock is capable of providing. This note summarizes the new methodology underlying the concept of capital input used in the multifactor productivity program and presents estimates for the Canadian business sector for the period 1981–00. Additional details are available in Gellatly et al. (2001) and Harchaoui and Tarkhani (2001).
