Abstract
where Melissa worked with children suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and emotional disturbance. Prior to her Art Therapy training Melissa worked extensively with children, predominantly in educational settings, for over 10 years. A rt Therapy is a distinct professionaldiscipline in its early stages ofdevelopment in Australia. Internationally, art therapy is an established and accredited profession. In many overseas countries, most noteably, America, Canada and the United Kingdom, Art Therapy is recognised as a valuable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of psychological, social and physical conditions. Art therapy is concerned with the use of art for therapeutic purposes and is especially useful where a child has communication difficulties, whether these are of a developmental, physical or psychological origin.
