Abstract
Commission on the River. The mandate of the Commission was to consider ideas for planning and management of section of the Ottawa River located on the main campus in Toledo, Ohio. The Commission examined successful river projects at other university campuses, reviewing existing university facility management reports, conducting a planning charette and public meetings, and conducted a survey of students. Several important issues and opportunities were identified in regards to beautification, restoration, enhancement, research, community engagement and student involvement. The final report of the Commission released in December 2006 provided a series of recommendations and the proposal for a Meadows-Boardwalk Concept.
