Abstract
There is no suggestion that the AMS does in fact dictate editorial policy--. only that it-i s able to. However, since the AMS holds the purse strings, it does not, of course, wish to,relinquish con-trol. members of the editorial board only those individ-uals who are responsible in AMS opinion. The result would be a situa-tion wherein the Ubyssey ca n have both revenue and complet e The AMS fears a situation in editorial freedom while the AMS which the Ubyssey, being solely having exercised discretion i n responsible for its content, should print libellous material. This would result in the suing of the AMS, as publisher. It is the opinion of the edi-torial board (with the exception of one unrealistic dissenter) that the AMS's refusal of the char-ter, with no attempt at a reason-able solution, is typical of the uncompromising nature if thi s administrative body. soul which is, at present, swaddled in foam rubber.
